He holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, a Master of Education in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University and is currently finishing a Master of Education in Coaching Skills from the University of Victoria.
Aside from teaching, Loewen has been a Department Head; an Athletic Director focused on program development and continues to coach basketball within his school district.
He coordinates the Junior NBA program within his teaching community and is a mentor for community coaches.
